For our sweethearts, this Valentine's we'll be make heart shaped ones, cover 'em with a homemade buttercream frosting, and finish with our Raspberry Chocolate Cane Sugar, giving them a pop of sweet fruitiness and pretty coloring. If you can find them, the Valentines' Day M&Ms make a really nice topper too - just be careful not to drop too many on the floor! One more thing - we can't all be heros. If you're up for making your own frosting, more power to you - we cheat and use store bought.

  • 2 3/4th White flour
  • 1 1/2 Cups White sugar
  • 1 Cup butter
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 Tsp Baking soda
  • 1 Tin Raspberry Chocolate Cane Sugar
  • 1/2 Tsp Baking powder
  • 1 Jar Buttercream frosting
  • Bonus Points: Valentine's M&Ms

  • Preheat oven to 375F.
  • In a small bowl, mix flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Reserve.
  • In a larger bowl, cream together butter and sugar, then beat in an egg. Make sure the whole mixture is silky smooth.
  • Slowly, start adding in the dry mix, working a little at a time so it doesn't lump.
  • Roll out a large ungreased cookie sheet, and start flattening the dough on top. Use a lightly dusted rolling pin to reach your desired height - no more than 1/8 of an inch.
  • Use your heart cookie cutter to cut out as many hearts as you can. You'll want to flip and spin it around to capture as much surface area as possible. Lay hearts on a separate ungreased cookie sheet. If you have a bunch of leftover dough, just re-roll out, and cut out further hearts.
  • Bake around 8 minutes (we like ours soft - if you like yours firm go to 10). Remove and allow to rest for at least 5 minutes.
  • Cover each heart thoroughly with frosting, then evenly coat each one with Raspberry Chocolate Cane Sugar.
  • If you have them, separate the M&Ms into their respective colors, and decorate each heart.
  • These are ready to go! They keep best if you cover them with foil, but if anyone has smelled them cooking, there's no need to wait!
